Geraldine's Confinement Nanny

This was Mama's confinement nanny since returning home from the hospital on 8 March and she's been taking care of Geraldine day and night since then! Today is her last day with us and Mama has requested to take a picture of her and Geraldine, so that Geraldine will know who was caring for her since she was born for the first month!

End of Term - Teddy Bear Picnic

Gwendolyn told Mama excitedly that she's going to have an end of term teddy bear picnic in school on 6 March! Ms Jam told everyone that they can bring their favourite food to the picnic. Lyn Lyn, without hesitation, told Mama that she wanted to bring peanut butter sandwich to share with all 16 of her friends in her class! Mama promised her to bring her to the supermarket to buy the ingredients after school on 5 March, after Fu Fu has arrived in Singapore! (P.S. Lyn Lyn excitedly told Ms Jam in the morning that her Fu Fu will be picking her up after school on 5th!)

All of us hurried to the Cold Storage at McDonald's Place at the junction of Clementi Road and Bukit Timah Road, grabbed our stuff and hurried home. After dinner, Mama asked Lyn Lyn to bring out everything to prepare the peanut butter sandwiches. She's asked for the green plates that we've bought for the last X'mas Party to hold the sandwiches and the red cups for drinks during tomorrow's picnic. Lyn Lyn carefully spread the peanut butter on the bread and cut each sandwich into 4 triangles. Mama and Lyn Lyn completed 4 sets, with 16 small pieces! Lyn Lyn was satisfied and carefully packed the napkins for all of her friends, with some, having special "santa claus" pattern. She even placed her teddy bear together with Spot at the console table, just in case she's forgotten to bring her teddy bear along the next morning! All well prepared...

P.S. 6 March was a rainy day and Mama wasn't sure what happened to the planned teddy bear picnic? Though Lyn Lyn returned to tell Mama that she had a great picnic with her friends!

My First Friend

Do you know that young babies can only see three colours: Red, Black and White?! Since Elmo has all three colours, Mama has placed one nearby to Geraldine, just in case she got bored and have "someone" to play with! Surprisingly, she wasn't scared of Elmo, but was trying hard to "talk" and "communicate" with it. It was rather interesting to see how they interacted for the first time: Geraldine kept "punching" Elmo, until he fell...it was so funny...

Who are you? What are you doing on my baby cot?

Gwendolyn or Geraldine???

Our visitors kept saying that Geraldine looks like Gwendolyn (when she was a baby). Mama has purposely put their baby pictures together, wearing the same outfit to let all our friends compare and comment! What do you think? Let's play spot the difference! Difficult, right?

UPDATE: Due to overwhelming response from this controversial collage, Mama has decided to unveil the answer to all...LHS is Geraldine and RHS is Gwendolyn! Both pictures were taken when they were 3 weeks old! Haha...

Is This Mei Mei's Dimple?

Papa and Mama's been wondering whether Geraldine managed to inherit Papa's dimples, just like Gwendolyn. However, since birth, there was no sign of any dimples at all, even though it's rather obvious that Geraldine will have long eye-lashes...but today, when Mama was taking picture for Geraldine, she discovered something on her left cheek! See...is this a dimple?

For those who remembered Auntie Mary, knew that Gwendolyn was "addicted" to the Nintendo DS machine! So this time, when Gong Gong came, he brought along Fu Fu's NDS for Lyn Lyn to play! See how close she has become with Gong Gong? Coz Gong Gong let her play games on the machine!

Not forgetting Por Por's abalone, Lyn Lyn was enjoying herself so much with the yummy abalone, asking to cut it up all by herself...

I Helped Por Por to Feed Mei Mei

Gwendolyn's been learning about baby care with Mama since Mama was pregnant. She's been looking forward to feeding and changing diapers for her Mei Mei. Since Gong Gong and Por Por arrived today, she saw Por Por carrying Mei Mei and feeding Mei Mei to drink milk as well, she asked to help too! Though not all by herself, but she took part in it!

Passed Out?

Mama and Geraldine was discharged from the hospital on 8 Feb. Upon discharge, Geraldine didn't have any sign of jaundice. So Monday morning, the paedietrician asked her to go back to his clinic for another blood test. Together with the jaundice blood test, there were another 2 blood tests to be performed. So, Papa and Mama brought Geraldine to the laboratory to extract blood. Poor Geraldine, the lab person bent her right wrist and inserted a needle into her tiny vein to extract 2 tubes of blood (Yes...TWO TUBES!!!!!!!!!!)...initially, Geraldine cried loudly...but after about 5 seconds, she was all quiet and calm...Papa and Mama were so surprised and suspected that she's PASSED OUT...(see below), almost motionless...poor baby...

As mentioned previously, Gwendolyn has been asking to carry Geraldine whenever she sees Mama carrying her! Mama told her that she can only carry "mei mei" when seated at the sofa...so this time, she prepared herself at the sofa, with some cushions to support her arm as well...and kept kissing her "mei mei'! Lyn Lyn: Mei Mei, you're so cute!

Rock-a-by Baby

Baby Geraldine was crying and Big Sister Gwendolyn was trying to calm "mei mei" down. She rocked Geraldine whilst singing Rock-a-by Baby at the same time! So sweet!

I Can Carry My Mei Mei

Gwendolyn's been longing to carry her baby sister, Geraldine. At last, Mama gave her a chance and asked her to sit down, so that Mama can place Geraldine on her lap! See how satisfied she is! However, when she asked to carry Geraldine to walk around, Mama told here that she's not strong enough to do so! She was so disappointed!

My Baby Sister has Arrived!

Baby Geraldine has arrived on 6 February 2008 at 2:06pm! She's a Chinese New Year Eve's baby! Gwendolyn was so excited to know of the arrival of Geraldine and wore her "I'M THE BIG SISTER" t-shirt when she first went to the hospital to see mummy and mei mei! See how happy she is in seeing her "new toy"!

Geraldine Is Born!

Mama went to Uncle Adrian for checkup on 5 Feb, to see whether Geraldine is ready to come out. However, she was still comfortably resting in Mama's tummy. By the time Mama left Uncle Adrian's clinic, mild contraction started, but was not really noticeable. Mama went home after that. Since Mama had a feeling that Geraldine is about to come, Gwendolyn was asked to stay at grandma's place, just in case Papa has to send Mama to the hospital in the middle of the night.

At last, around 2:20am, Mama started to feel stronger contractions and started monitoring the timing between each contraction and the severity of it. Until 4:20am, Mama woke Papa up to prepare to go to the hospital. They arrived around 5+am and went straight to the labour ward. Whilst the nurse was checking on Mama, Papa went to the admission counter to do the paperwork. After the initial checking, Mama was transferred from the Observation Room to Delivery Suite No. 9! The Anaesthetician came to give Mama epidual before Papa was allowed into the delivery suite. After that, it was just pure waiting for the actual delivery...

Uncle Adrian came at around 10:40am to check on Mama...she was 5cm dilated...Uncle Adrian said most likely, Mama will delivery around early afternoon, cannot wait for 12 midnight to give birth to the first New Year baby! Mama didn't want to wait for so long as well...it doesn't matter when Geraldine is born...since Mama didn't have any breakfast, Papa gave 2 pieces of peanut pancake to Mama to boost up her energy level for a bit, before she gives birth!

At around 1:39pm, the nurse came and said Mama can start pushing already, as Mama has already fully dilated...both Papa and Mama were in shock, as about an hour ago, another nurse came and check to say that it was still around 5cm dilated...anyways, the nurse helped Mama to start practising pushing, before Uncle Adrian arrived 20 min later! The pushing was not that long and Baby Geraldine was born at 2:06pm!

Driving a Motorbike

We went to the Ghim Moh Food Centre for breakfast and the long-lost kiddy motor ride is back! Gwendolyn missed it so much and asked to play on one of them, even though there's a long Q with many kids waiting. She's chosen a motorbike this time and is determined to wait for her turn to play! See how much she's enjoying herself, even though it was only a 10-15 minute ride!

Hair Cut @ Hairdresser

So far, Gwendolyn refused to have her haircut at an outside hairdresser. She's been observing other kids cutting hair at Toys R Us for many times. Finally, don't know for what reason, she agreed to have her cut on 2 Feb 2008! She waited for her turn and sat still at the chair for the auntie to cut her hair! Mama has asked the auntie to cut her hair shorter this time, so that she can endure longer for the next haircut.
